THE EFFECT OF FUEL PRICES ON FOOD PRICES IN KENYA

High food prices are one of the major risks facing households from developing countries. Food have attracted renewed interest among policy experts in identifying appropriate instruments to counter effect price vulnerability. This paper evaluates fuel on by testing for Granger causality and cointegration applied diesel, maize, beans, cabbage, potatoes data period 2010-2018. The results revealed a unidirectional running diesel cabbage but there was no causal relationship with maize beans prices. findings suggest that is long-run between perishable foods an increase resulting significant cabbages potatoes. study recommends cushioning introducing tax relief once hits certain level.Keywords: prices, Fuel Cointegration, causalityJEL Classifications: Q48, Q43, Q13DOI: https://doi.org/10.32479/ijeep.10600
